MARCH FAVORITES

I’ve never favored March (no particular reason why), but I have to say, I’ve had a great past couple of weeks. Yesterday was also my half birthday, which officially makes me 29 and a half — can you believe that? Because I can’t. This month was a busy one — full of events, work and a touch of warm weather in NYC, which I’m very grateful for. I also spent some time with month going through some old harddrives, and it was really fun to see some old work (including blog stuff) I created back in like 2015, 2016. I’ve come a long way, which is pretty cool. Speaking of, my picks this month reflect new and old objects, some from my mother’s jewelry box, one from Goodwill down the street. Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been digging as we inch toward Spring!

FASHION

Zara Corset Satin Minidress Goodwill — By far my best purchase this month, I scored this silky Zara dress from Goodwill for $11.99. It’s a bit big and has some small stains — but I plan to have it dry cleaned and tailored a bit to fit perfect. I’m obsessed with the rhinestone detailing and the hue — it looks very beige/champagne with my filter on, but it actually has a slight green sheen. (Which is very new for me because I DO NOT! wear green, LOL!) Here’s a similar pick from Hello Molly.

Irish Sweater Cardigan — I’ve never been an oversized cardigan girlie, but this sweater has become my new fave in the past month. It’s super warm, goes with pretty much everything and has these cute wooden button details that really bring the #eclecticgrandpa trend to life. So good!

ACCESSORIES

Emi Jay Bow Barrette in Drama Queen Amanda aptly gifted me this barrette over Christmas and I love it as we transition into spring. I’ll add it to my usual half up half down for a little style, and it instantly elevates any look. So cute.

Vintage Silver Chain — My mom gifted me this chain during a recent visit to my parents house, and although I’m not sure what year she got it, it’s certainly in trend RN! I love layering it with my usual gold necklace suspects (the gold chain and Alanna name plate I wear everyday!), and it would look super cute on its own as well. The only bad news is I think I’m a little allergic to it lol, so I might be on the hunt for a dupe soon. This one from Amazon is super similar!

Red Beryl Vintage Ring — Another irreplaceable piece from my mom’s jewelry box is this stunning ring that belonged to my great-grandmother. I’m not quite sure what the stone is, but after a few Google searches, it looks closest to Red Beryl to me (a hot red/pink stone). How stunning is this! It makes me want to incorporate more rings into my jewelry wardrobe and it’s truly so unique. Despite the fact that it catches on fabric easily (as seen by the threads in this photo haha), I absolutely love it!

Sheepskin Platform Slippers — New year, new slippers?! I’ve been eyeing this platform pair for a while from Amazon. They resemble the UGG Platform Funkette Slippers that are simply unavailable anymore (boo!) but they’re a quarter of the price and I’m guessing, just as comfortable! A win-win.

Cannot believe it’s about to be spring, so here’s a little quote from the Bard about the season:

“In the Spring, when proud-pied April dress'd in all his trim hath put a spirit of youth in everything.”

Happy April! Cheers, xx A. Martine
