This has been… a weird time. As I’m sure you can all relate. More on that in my monthly favorites and recap, but for now, I wanted to break down how exactly I’ve been spending my time — which has been, mostly, re-watching My So Called Life. If you haven’t seen this masterpiece of a 90s show, I recommend you take this down time to watch all 18 (yes 18, there was only one season) episodes. It follows the life of Angela Chase (Claire Danes) in high school and it’s oh so angsty. Not to mention, the heatthrob of the story is none other than a young Jared Leto (swoon). One of my favorite characters, however, has to be Angela’s wild best friend: Rayanne Graff. She’s a hippie, totally cool and loves getting in trouble. Since I’ve been living in loungewear these past few weeks, for this look, I wanted to channel Rayanne in all her glory, and what she would wear if she lived in 2020 (and was in quarantine with us all, no less). I think her go-to look would be something like this.

I started with this really sick tie dye Vintage Adidas top I recently got from Interzone Vintage, a cute shop on Etsy that reworks old sportswear. It’s super oversized, so comfy and really easy to wear with pretty much anything. I paired it with a pair of dark grey denim jeans I picked up at Zara in Paris (similar pair here) and tied it all together with my Nike AF1s and a topknot. Easy, comfortable and as dressed up as I’ll get during these weeks at home.

I’ll leave you with a snippet from the protagonist, Angela, when Graff tells her to dye her hair red.

“When Rayanne Graff told me my hair was holding me back, I had to listen.

'Cause she wasn't just talking about my hair. She was talking about my life.”

The best. Watch it. Stay healthy! xx - A. Martine
