FAIR LADY FEAT. SHOP MICAS

There are a ton of character transformations out there that rely on costume to really seal the deal — and one of my favorite movie moments that exhibits this is Eliza Doolittle’s derby look in none other than My Fair Lady. She wears a lacy white gown with a matching hat and gloves, a costume change that not only symbolizes the change in her appearance, but also the change of her new life as a debutante. While the white lace is a nod to elegance in that story, I’d argue that black lace can have just as much of an effect.

This dress is actual proof of that, it’s the Asymmetric Lace Panel Midi Dress from Micas. I pretty much fell in love with it the moment I saw it online, and it easily met my expectations when I got it in the mail. The black lace detail makes it elevated enough to wear on a special occasion (or to a wedding like I did!) while the structural asymmetric cut actually gives it a little modern twist. I paired it with strappy black heels, a white Amazon Fashion purse and some tortoise sunnies. I loved this as a wedding guest dress look because it’s sophisticated and eye-catching without being over the top — I think Eliza would approve.

“Women will love her that she is a woman more worth than any man; men, that she is the rarest of all women.”
