EYELET FT. ABERCROMBIE
When I was in 8th grade, I performed in my very first Shakespeare show. It was a series of vignettes—and I was cast as one of Macbeth’s three witches. Not only did this set off my typecast of evil characters for the next four years (which tbh, I kind of loved), it was also one of the most fun performances I was ever apart of. Our spin on the three witches was to be dressed up as little girls, in eyelet dresses with blue ribbons in our hair (a quiet nod to Stephen King’s The Shining, I realize as I look back on it). Our cauldron was a children’s toy carriage and our ingredients were a mix of toys. It was a cool take on the witches, and the dresses will forever be in my mind every time I lay eyes on eyelet. As luck would have it, eyelet scrunchies are making a comeback in the zeitgeist, and I was sent this really pretty one from RPLZ, which evoked this memory very clearly.
Like my time wearing eyelet as one of Macbeth’s not-so-innocent witches, I loved wearing this eyelet headpiece with a more edgy outfit. I paired it with this really cute Ava Mesh Top from Abercrombie that has black velvet flowers on it (truly great for all seasons tbh), and 1/2 of this Princess Polly Satin Skirt Set. I then added some oval sunnies and these really cute (and COMFORTABLE!) Amazon Jelly Kitten heels, and of course, the infamous Eyelet Scrunchie (similar here). If it were Fall, I’d pair this look with black cowboy boots, and a leather jacket (can you tell I can’t wait for Fall!) Case in point: eyelet doesn’t have to be as innocent as it looks, and for that, I’ll forever love it.
