MODERN DISCO FT. FREE PEOPLE
It’s probably not surprising that I’m just a little bit obsessed with the disco era of 1970-80. Talk about a time when people were really experimenting with fashion, shapes, styles, and beauty looks. I recently channeled the vibe on a Friday night in the frigid East Village at Funny Bar. This very non-descript-from-the-outside spot serves up jazz and steak frites, tiny martini glasses, and of course, a disco ball. The look I happened to be wearing fit right in with the nostalgia.
I started with this corduroy jumpsuit, which I purchased ages ago from Shop We Wore What (ASOS also has a similar one available here). This jumpsuit has become a staple for the winter months in NYC because it’s easy to style, super comfortable, and most importantly, incredibly warm. When I wear it for going out, I love to keep the top unzipped and pair it with a mesh turtleneck underneath. Also, remember my disco reference? The bottom of this jumpsuit has super flared out bell bottoms, and that, paired with the snug fit around the legs and waist, totally gives off all the disco vibes. Next, I added this cute polka-dot Free People number— and while it’s currently no longer available (boo), I did find it on Poshmark. To wrap it all up, I paired it with a brown velvetine bow and my Fendi baguette. A cozy, warm look that channels a touch of party from a nostalgic time.
