FORBIDDEN FRUIT FEAT. MISSGUIDED

One of the most interesting literary ‘devices’ I think I’ve come across in my reading/consuming is the concept of the forbidden fruit. Ok, I kind of made that up as it’s not a real literary device: but hear me out: a lot of plots, stories, plays and more have a notion of ‘forbidden fruit’ weaved into them. For example, a forbidden fruit could be a person: think the ever-so intriguing Jason Dean (JD) in Heathers, or some might think of Hannibal Lecter in the Silence of the Lambs. Both very interesting, villainous characters that feast on the naivety of Veronica Sawyer and Clarisse Starling. But these girls aren’t that doltish — they know the evils of their counterparts — in fact, they even acknowledge them at some points throughout their respective storylines. So what’s the attraction? An obsession maybe? They’re Eve in the garden here — knowingly picking the forbidden fruit and fraternizing with the serpent. Why? Not because they’re weak, or moronic, or evil people. They choose to explore the forbidden fruit to get to the pit of the thing. To understand why it is the way it is, and how it came to be that way. They bite into that fruit with empathy.

Enough about my forbidden fruit rant — you get the point — but it’s only apropos as this was my most recent apple picking outfit (what a transition, I know, right). Either way, I wanted to celebrate choosing the forbidden fruit here with this super cute and comfortable look featuring this super cozy sweater I picked up from Missguided. I paired it with these 90s straight leg jeans from Abercrombie that are absolutely my new favorites. I paired it with this long black bomber, oval sunnies and my Docs to complete the look.

“Hang there like fruit, my soul, Till the tree die.”
