FOLIE A DEUX FEAT. STORETS

If you know me well, you know I’m a sucker for Fall Out Boy — always have been, always will. And, if you had to ask me to pick one FOB album to forever listen to, I’ll proudly say it would be Folie à Deux, without a doubt (What a Catch, Donnie actually makes me.. sob?). Truly a masterpiece of music, the album tells a story about love, heartbreak and the concept of shared delusion. The term folie à deux actually translates to ‘madness for two,’ and refers to a disorder in which one or more people believe in the same delusion. It’s such a fascinating concept because it kind of makes you step back and say — huh, don’t we all kind of suffer from this? All the world’s a stage, isn’t it? I’ll stop before I ramble into an existential crisis. Either way, I love how a lot of the songs are both contrastive and complementary to one another and within themselves — kind of a nice nod to the folie à deux concept.

Inspired by this album, I wanted to mix a little edge with trendy, soft touches for this look. I started with a pair of ripped black skinny jeans from Zara (similar here) I actually picked up at Goodwill for $9. I paired it with one of my favorite spring tops — this cut out white sweater from Storets (similar here). To add a little contrast to the look, I opted for this jacket from Vero Moda and a brown velvet headband. Went with mostly gold jewelry, and I’m loving these hoops from Etsy.

Wanted to also shout out this sweet speakeasy that just opened up in my neighborhood where the middle photo was taken — it’s called Keys and Heels and easily is going to be one of my new fave spots this spring/summer.

Leaving with you a quote from our favorite folie à deux couple in all of Shakespeare’s work:

“Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be What thou art promised.”
