GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST FT. ASOS

I’ve always been a fanatic for the holidays. Dressing up for Christmas Eve, wearing touches of red (which is out of my typically neutral comfort zone), and getting to wear some festive accessories like bows and sparkles is something I look forward to every year. Christmas movies are also a fave around this time of year, including some legendary classics like A Christmas Story, A Christmas Carol, It’s a Wonderful Life—you name it. I’ve always been particularly obsessed with A Christmas Carol, specifically, and the tale of the three ghosts that come with it. Not only is the story in itself interesting, but metaphorically, it also shows us that Christmas is a great example of a time when you conjure these ghosts— not often do you always remember or anticipate the Past, Present, and Future when you think about one moment in time, as you do during this holiday. The Ghost of Christmas Past has always been my favorite, of course, because it evokes what makes the holiday so special. Just like I dressed up with bows and dresses as a child, I’m doing it all over again, some 20~ years later. It’s extraordinary.

Here, I channeled those vibes with quite a festive look for a mini holiday gathering we threw at the apartment. I started with the centerpiece of this look: a gorgeous burgundy sparkling skirt (similar here). Next, I paired it with this ASOS Fur-Trimmed Cardigan Set and these really fun red lace tights. I wrapped up this look (pun intended) with a red velvet bow from RPZL (similar here from Amazon), and studded black leather mules from Amazon. Pair it all with a Christmas cocktail and I was set. And of course, A Christmas Carol or not, Shakes already had a pretty good idea of Christmas past, present, and future with this insight:

“What's past is prologue.”
