SUMMER SOLSTICE FT. AMAZON FASHION

The history of the summer solstice is an interesting one. TLDR: it’s also known as the longest day of the year, when the earth has its maximum tilt toward the sun. History tells us that ancient cultures celebrated this time with holidays, festivals, and rituals galore—and it even inspired a little something you may have heard of called the Swedish Midsummer Festival. Midsummer Night’s Dream also comes to mind when thinking about the summer solstice, and the play itself points to a lot of things that nod nicely to the celebratory day, from frivolity to the confusing dream-like circumstances that involve a donkey's head (LOL).

For our mini celebration of the solstice, I put together this celebratory look with some old goodies in my closet. I started with this silky, cream-colored corset (similar here) and paired it with this fun, asymmetrical skirt I got back in the day at Storets (similar here). I then added my favorite oval sunnies, these cute seashell clips, and this pair of lucite brown heeled sandals, which might just be my new favorite pair of summer shoes.

Leaving you with one of my favorite quotes from the very play:

“Lovers and madmen have such seething brains, Such shaping fantasies, that apprehend, More than cool reason ever comprehends.”
